~So Ahmad, when did you first start using the internet?

I started using the Internet back in the beginning of 1998.

~You launched your first website on November 98, what inspired you to own one?

I used to go through the UAE personal websites list in uaeforever, and browse around different sites and explore them. I wanted to know how it felt like to be a webmaster of my own website.

~What programs did you use to make your website?

Corel Draw and pure HTML were my tools. I just recently started using Frontpage this year.

~What skills did you have before starting your own website?

Accounting skills! :-D 

~We all know that debits and credits won't get you anywhere near uploading a picture online, LOL. What I meant to ask, is what background did you have before starting your website?

Well, to tell you the truth, I had no strong background. I just surfed for some online tutorials about HTML, and with some of my self-taught experience with Corel Draw, I started my first steps into the virtual world. 

~What skills did you gain till now from managing your own website?

Well, obviously I gained web managing skills and that's why I opened new websites. I also improved my communication skills by interacting with visitors and email correspondence with other people. I also gained good knowledge about the internet, especially UAE internet environment, knew what people wanted and tried to provide them with it.

~Talking about the Internet environment, how did people react to your website?

You can say, my website can be considered a success, since I get over 1000 visitors a day. Many students use my website as an online resource of information about the UAE, and especially Dubai. Teachers also recommend my website for their students, whether it is for information or for graphics. Foreigners also look for information about our country from my website, which I am really proud of. 

~What else did you benefit from your website?

My website opened up for me new opportunities, enabled me to explore the UAE internet market, join organizations and learn more about UAE and its association with the IT and Internet.. where UAE technology stands from the world..

~So what is the best thing about being a webmaster?

Doing what is on your mind with no limits... You show the world what you have without borders.

~Any advice for those who want to start their own website?

Do not be scared, and do not be nervous. Even if you don't have enough skills or previous experience  with websites, you will manage to learn eventually with practice and gain the right skills.

~Will you be willing to offer them help?

Sure, I already helped a lot of people and is more than happy to help anyone who is in need.
