A man was sent off to another country to attend some business conferences for a company he works for.. He was given a 1st class ticket.. and was booked in a VIP suit in a 5-star hotel.. provided with city tours and all sorts of recreational facilities and not to mention the benefits he would gain from work..

All he had to do was to attend the daily conferences..which merely took little time from his day..

He traveled there and was so astonished by all the benefits he was privileged with and spent all of his time enjoying them instead of attending the conferences.. He wished it would last forever, but It was already time to go back home.. He had no choice but to leave..

Back home, when the company found out about the absence of their employee from attending the conferences, they immediately fired him, and with it gone all the other benefits of working with that company..

So what's the point of the story?

This is similar to us being here in this life.. We are privileged with a lot of things, and yet all we have to do is be thankful for them and continue with our regular prayers and basic Muslim tasks.. the difference is we don't know when we will be sent back.. when we will suddenly die and be questioned about what we did and what we didn't do.. Whether we will be rewarded at the end.. or punished..

Weren't aware of that? Not to worry.. There is always the chance to wake up and go back to the right track.. Its your call.. you still have the choice.. for now..

So its here again.. the holy month of Ramadan.. that once a year time to revise yourself, do some spiritual "cleaning", and grow closer to God.. Something about this month that makes me feel good.. I don't know if its the atmosphere, the experience or just everything.. Something inside you tickles you to do some good things.. for people around you.. Ofcourse I am sure you can think of many good things to do for others.. but here are my ultimate favorites:
-On your way to work, school or where-ever you head in the morning, while waiting for that red light to switch to green.. open your window and buy a smile from the nearest newspaper guy standing around.. (exclude the newspaper).. trust me this smile will make your day! You don't pass by any traffic lights?? Not to worry, smile-shopping can be done anywhere.. just open your eyes to those around you.. and you will find those "potential sellers" around.. ;)
-Its nearly sunset.. and your stomach has already started its musical symphony.. and all that delicious food is waiting for you to attack it.. *you think to yourself: I want to eat EVERYTHING*.. but did you pause for a sec, and wonder if others have any food in the first place? Grab a big plate.. donate some food and send it to the nearest mosque.. Afterwards, not only will you feel full from the food you ate, but also full from the joy of sharing your food with others..
These were just two examples of what can you do for others during Ramadan.. feel free to share some of your own with us.. ;)
