burned souq
[mood: laid back]
[craving: still Samsoomty..]
Today, Babes is another year older.. hope your life ahead is happy, successful & full of love.. *hugs*

Few days ago, I was out with a friend when we suddenly passed by the old Abu-Dhabi souq.. & I was shocked of what I saw, I stopped to take some photos. Around less than 2 years ago, a huge fire burned down over 85 shops in the old souq caused by power short-circuit. Thankfully this happened after mid-night where all shops were closed and no people around.. but ofcourse massive financial losses occured. What stunned me is that after all that time after this accidents, the burned down shops were left un-touched! There were heaps of garbage, burned left-overs and things all inside the place.. the buildings were still black and damaged from the fire.. I was disappointed that no efforts were made up till today to atleast clean up that place, let alone have a new project take place there instead.. I don’t even want to think about what is hidden in those heaps.. I’ll leave you with the photos:

[Final whisper: Naser, thank you.. =)]

eygoloon bayshloon the whole thing o baysawoon soog torathii :S,, yarabiii 3aleeehm rgoood =/
hehe in which planet are you living? the old souq is going to be re-builded soon in a traditional heratige design, and this decission was took a few months ago,all the shops are transfered to madinat Zayed mall. Good morning lady WAKE UP!!
Inzain I did hear about the new plans, but until they will actually implement them (and in AD that takes forever), I was wondering why didnt they ATLEAST clean the place!? They actually left all the garbage to sit there and decay for around 2 years now?! And until they will actually start.. God knows how many more months or even years.. will it still continue laying there till they start working??!
WOW! i never heard about this… 2 years!?!
what, they thought like “hey lets just leave it, maybe the wind is gonna blow away the ashes” ? This is really strange. Interesting shots, although a little shocking..
I never heard of that!!! wow 2 yrs and nothing has been done!! what a shame! .. people are more focused on other things.. allah y3eeen
Kitten, you are not supposed to write this about AD. Who told you it takes forever? AD is one of the fastest growing cities in the world. for sure u have people visiting ur website from outside the UAE, is it this idea u give them about AD??!!! Garbage and stuff?!! Dont worry they will be starting soon, one of the biggest companies in the world is holding the project.
Very nice and an enjoyble website good luck and intersting things around here
i have great memory in that souq..
This is horrific and very difficult to believe that this place is actually in AD.. I really hope they do something about it SOON.. and not leave it for a few more years looking like a dumpster.. Kitten, thank you very much for raising this concern, I believe that immediate action should be taken.
fantabulous, Kitten is concerned about this matter as much as you and me, and I admire her courageous act..
what a shame…wallah 3aib…am from AD n I hate seeing this n not only this there are more things that needs attention here in the city…n talking about one of the big companies in the world!!!! where z that company r they gonna do the same job they were doing @ sheikh zayed allah yer7mah mosque…oh please…there is baladya to clean up not a company to clean up….. (3ther a8ba7 mn thanb)

Sometimes when u really care/love something u should consider the bad or lets say the negative things about it, because showing the good/positive points doesn’t always work and not helpful at all cz it leads to nothing and no progress. So in order to see your city growing, progressing and moving ahead you MUST know where the weak points are hidden, bring them up, and finely try to find the good solution. as simple. Al7een loo tameena engool AD is the best o AD mashy sharat’haa sho banstfeed….. OK we alllllllllll love AD o 9a7 AD fn’6arnaa IS TOP o yamaa kitten posted amaaaaaaaazing WOOW shotz abt AD, lakin ba3aad n7n nibahaa a7san o a7san ebwaaaaaaaaaied nibahaa 9edg etkooooon the bestest …..
